Quality Education?

There is a piece of news in Sit Chew attracted my attention this morning.

" A woman lecturer from a university had made a police report. She reported about her being sacked by her university just because she refused to add marks for her stuednts in the mid and final year exams. She said her students had failed terribly in exams. It was only 4 or 5 students from hundreds who had passed the exams. She is afraid of threats to her life"

What happens to our university?
Are we going to maintain "the academic excellence" by resorting such dirty ways?
Are we going to produce "quality professionals" by increasing the marks for them?
Are we fair to those better and hardworking students?
Can we attain 1st class quality education in 2020?

I wonder.

We should despise such behaviour.
It will ruin our next generations.
It will encourage cheating in exams.
May be corruptions in education.
Who knows?

Why Exam Scope?

A student approached me to ask for the Physics exams scope in the exams hall today.
Exam scope means topics and questions in the Physics trial papers.

I am not surprised by his motive.
His attidtude to get soalan bocor is very common now in the town.

Many tecahers are giving exam tips to their respective students directly or indirectly.

Why?

Teaching in the class

I was having a class with my Lower 6 students today.
I noticed that my students were so quiet.
They seldom give me responses to my Q and A in the class.

The situations give me doubts about my teaching.

I told them my doubts as follows.
(a) the teaching may be boring
(b) the teaching may be difficult to grasp
(c) they may not understand my teaching
(d) they may not know how to pose questions
..................................

My reminder to them that I prefer them to make noise and start to ask questions in the class.

It will help me to have a bettter teaching and learning process.
At least I will know their needs and unknown about the teaching materials.

Administrator or academic ?

Both my PKs are admiring me as a form 6 academic teacher.
They feel that teachers have less haedache and problem.

Well,I told them that it depends on what we want in teaching profession.

I love teaching. I like to educate people from not learned to become learned.

Actually I am following Buddha in delivering all beings to happiness from sufferings in His daily practices.

We can impart all types of knowledge to make changes in all beings. It includes living skills and morals.

Morals are the most importang aspect to lead a good life in this world.

As adminstrators, we can also impart such good values in our team of workers in school.

We need to show good example in our daily management.

We need to have care and loving kindness in management. then the subordinates will respect us .
We will have less problems in handling them.
Our vision will be attained collectively.

Boys are poor performers in exams

In the Monday assembly my principal had touched on the poor performance of boys in the mid-year exams results.
All the top performers in the exams are girls.
He challenged the boys to change for the better.
Generally boys are not interested in classsroom activities. They want outdoor movements.
They don't like to be book worms like the girls.
They need helps to inculcate the love to study for their future. Plaese help them. teachers.
